The holidays have a way of feeling a little more magical with little ones around. In celebration of our exclusive holiday collection with Maisonette, their team sat down with our founder, Megan Eddings Feely, to talk about the traditions she's carrying into motherhood, the inspiration behind the collection, and the little moments that make this time of year so special

Read the Q & A below:

Give us a short summary of the story of how Eddy began including the context for Megan’s life, the name, and ethos around the brand.

Eddy really began with a love of beautiful, detailed clothes and the belief that getting dressed is a ritual that should feel special, even on the most ordinary days. After spending over 15 years in fashion, I was traveling through India for work while planning my wedding and started collecting fabrics, embroideries, and little treasures that inspired me to design all the pieces for myself and my bridesmaids. What started as something deeply personal became the beginning of Eddy.

The name Eddy is actually my childhood nickname, born from my maiden name, Eddings. My soccer teammates gave it to me because there were too many Megans on the team, and it stuck. I've always been a bit of a tomboy girly-girl, and I think Eddy captures that duality perfectly. A little playful, a little unexpected, feminine without being too precious.

I officially launched Eddy in 2022, after our wedding and just before becoming a mother, so in many ways I've been growing a business and a family side by side. At its heart, Eddy is about creating beautiful, thoughtfully made pieces that are meant to be worn, loved, and lived in. We're proudly a certified B Corp, and conscious creation is an important part of how we build the brand. Our ethos is simple: Wear the good stuff. You are the occasion.

You're now a mom of two. How has motherhood shaped the way you think about your brand?

Eddy started with a focus on fun, occasion-driven dressing, and in many ways, the brand has evolved alongside my own life. We still make beautiful dresses, but as I've become a mother, we've introduced more everyday pieces designed to really be lived in. I often joke that if I can't do a squat in something, it probably doesn't work for my life right now.

I launched Eddy just before becoming a mother, so those early postpartum days were a particularly interesting intersection of building a business and raising babies. Some of those days were incredibly lonely, and I was still working, often doing fittings from my couch between nursing sessions and naps. But getting dressed, even if it was just for a short walk, a call, or a day at home, helped me hold on to a sense of myself. It brought a little joy and normalcy to an otherwise overwhelming season.

I've always believed that the everyday deserves to feel beautiful. Motherhood has only deepened that belief. Whether it's a nursing-friendly sleep gown, a great pair of wide-leg pants, or an oversized button-down, I want clothes that are comfortable, feminine, and thoughtfully designed for real life. Becoming a mother hasn't made me want beautiful things any less. It just made me want to live in them more.

How did the Maisonette collaboration come about, and what did you use for inspiration?

One of my close college girlfriends worked at Maisonette when it launched in 2017, so I've known and admired the brand from the very beginning. When the team reached out about carrying Eddy, saying they felt it was a natural fit for their female customer, I couldn't have agreed more. I'd actually started experimenting with childrenswear in the summer of 2025, inspired by wanting to dress my own daughter and son, now 3 and 2. Having Eddy on Maisonette felt like the perfect reason to expand that part of our world.

When I met with the team at their NYC office, the idea of creating something exclusive for the holidays came together so naturally. We wanted to design a collection for the mom and all the little feet running around her.

Creatively, we were drawn to the unexpected. Blue became the foundation of the collection because it felt like a fresh departure from traditional Christmas colors and not to mention, incredibly true to Maisonette. We played with classic ginghams and stripes, mixing pattern and texture in a way that feels nostalgic but also modern and playful… and of course, we added a little velvet ribbon detail to every piece. I always say that every Eddy piece needs a little wink - some unexpected detail that makes you smile.

We kept coming back to vintage family photographs for inspiration. Little girls in old-fashioned nightgowns holding their dolls, oversized bows on Christmas trees, candlelight, and those wonderfully imperfect moments at home. We imagined hot cocoa in bed, little ones helping Mom make breakfast, and everyone lounging around together with nowhere to be.

The holidays can come with so much pressure to make everything perfect, but the moments I treasure most are usually the unplanned ones. We wanted this collection to feel relaxed, joyful, and lived in. A little nostalgic, a little playful, and something families can make their own memories in. I could picture my own family wearing these pieces from the very beginning, which made the entire creative process feel especially personal. The Maisonette team shared that vision from day one.

What do you hope families feel when they wear these pajamas together?

First, I hope they're comfortable enough that nobody wants to change out of them. That's really the goal with good pajamas, right?

But beyond that, I hope they become part of someone's family traditions. The holidays can become such a production. We spend weeks planning and shopping and trying to make everything feel magical, and then somehow the best parts are the things we didn't plan at all.

I love matching pajamas, but I also wanted to make something Mom would genuinely be excited to wear. Not just something she puts on because everyone else is matching for the photo.

More than anything, I hope they become part of the memories families look back on. The slow mornings, the extra cuddles, the pancake breakfasts that turn into a complete mess. Those are the moments that end up meaning the most. And I love the idea that years from now, someone will pull out an old Christmas photo and remember exactly how that morning felt.

What holiday tradition from your childhood have you carried into your own family?

Christmas Eve pajamas! Every single year growing up, we were allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve, and it was ALWAYS pajamas.

I looked forward to it so much. We'd open our new pajamas, put them on immediately, and settle in for a Christmas movie with the fire going. It was that feeling of knowing Christmas was finally here, but still having all the excitement of the next morning ahead of you.

Looking back, I'm sure my mom also loved knowing we'd all be wearing something cute for Christmas morning photos. Which, now that I'm a mom, I completely understand.

I've carried that tradition into my own family, and it's one of my favorite parts of Christmas.

And now I'm designing the pajamas that my own kids will be opening on Christmas Eve, which is pretty surreal. If you had told little Meg that one day she'd be making the Christmas pajamas, I think she would've been very impressed with herself.

What new traditions have you started with your two little ones?

Our kids are still so little, so we're really just beginning to create our own family traditions. When I was single and living in San Francisco, my girlfriends and I would go to the Guardsmen Tree Lot every year to get our Christmas trees. And if you've never been, it's not exactly your average tree lot. There's music, bounce houses, cocktails for the adults. It's a whole thing.

I used to go with my girlfriends, and now I go with my husband and our two kids. Watching them run around the same place I used to go before I was even thinking about having a family is pretty special.

We pick out our tree, come home, turn on Christmas music, and decorate together. And by together, I mean the kids put approximately 15 ornaments on the same branch and I try very hard not to rearrange them.

I also love that the Guardsmen Tree Lot supports local children and families. It makes the tradition feel even more meaningful.

It's funny how certain things stay with you through completely different chapters of life. Same tree lot, very different crew.

Paint us a picture of the perfect cozy Christmas morning at your house.

Cinnamon rolls in the oven, coffee in hand, champagne shortly after, and Christmas music playing in the background. My mom was always a little over the top when it came to Christmas. We had three Christmas trees in our house and probably far too many presents under them! I've toned things down a bit with my own family, but I've definitely inherited her love of making the holidays feel magical.

One thing we've always done is take FOREVER to open presents, and I absolutely love that. There's no rush, no tearing through everything at once. Especially now with the kids, we'll open a gift and sometimes just stop to play with it rather than moving on to the next. We linger, refill our coffee (or champagne), and just enjoy being together. Honestly, since having kids, Christmas morning has been known to stretch into Christmas afternoon, or even the next day, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I want to soak up every bit of their excitement and wonder while they're still so little. To me, the perfect Christmas morning is a little chaotic, very cozy, and wonderfully slow.

What advice would you give a mom trying to build something of her own?

Don't take yourself too seriously. Take what you're building seriously, absolutely, but not every setback, missed bedtime, or little thing that doesn't go according to plan. And don't feel like you have to keep motherhood and your ambitions in separate boxes.

My kids have grown up alongside Eddy. They've been in fittings, on work calls, and running around the store. It's not always pretty or productive, but I love that they're part of it. I hope one day they'll understand that their mom built something she believed in, and that they can do the same.

I've learned that you can be incredibly ambitious and still give yourself permission to slow down, have fun, and enjoy your family. There will always be another email to answer or problem to solve. Your kids are only this little once. Have a glass of wine, laugh at the chaos, and take it all in. You're building a life, not just a business. Don't forget to enjoy it.
